THE PROTECT ACT OF 2008

Child Exploitation in America:

  • Child pornography includes the photos and videos of children as they are sexually abused, raped and tortured.

  • Over one-million internet child pornographers have been recorded by law enforcement disseminating these images of child victims.

  • Due to a lack of governmental funding, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces (ICAC) will investigate less than 2% of these cases.

  • Historically, 1/3 of child pornography arrests have led to the identification of the an actual child victi\m and resulted in a 96% conviction rate.

The Protect Act of 2008:

  • Provides funding for desperately needed resources to combat online child exploitation
  • Funds the specialized training of agents as well as the necessary equipment and technology to create dedicated forensic crime labs

Alica's Law:

  • A complimentary state law named after SPC child victim Alicia.  she was lured, abducted and held captive by an internet predator, and is one of the less than 2% rescued by ICAC task forces.

*ICAC task forces are federal, state and local law enforcement and prosecutors working together to combat online child exploitation.
